Using the Social Change Model as Framework for Leadership

The Social Change Model of Leadership Development was created in 1993 by the Higher Education Research Institute of UCLA. This model emphasizes the need to understand self and others in an effort to create community change. It is less about the leader and more about the leadership community.

Ultimate Fanatic Spirit Rewards

Lake Stevens High School created a program to increase student attendance and participation at club and sporting events. Students fill out a stamp card and exchange the cards for free t-shirts, according to their level of fan status. Find out how Lake Stevens started off and how you could implement this program at your own school.

Team Building Activities in a Tub

Teachers, advisers, and any group leaders seeking new and portable ways to engage their groups in skill development will participate in learning these team building activities. The presenters will demonstrate the process of team building using the "Do-Reflect-Apply" Theory of experiential learning.

Class Advisers 101

This workshop will cover the basics of how to set up your class officers for a successful and profitable year. We will cover ideas on cabinet set up, teaching the basics to your officers, committees, fundraising, and should I send my officers to camp. We will also look at should the adviser move with the class or stay at one grade level.

Leadership Blogs

What’s that? You don't even know what a blog is? This relaxed workshop will introduce blogs
(internet weblogs) as a tool for leadership teachers to allow kids to explore leadership concepts, share feelings, debate topics, build class unity, evaluate activities...the possibilities are endless. Several student samples will be shared as well as a variety of free blog hosts you could use. So come, relax, have fun and see how one teacher uses class blogs with his students.

Activities and PVC Pipe

In this session I will introduce you to the world of PVC pipe and fittings and demonstrate a number of ways this functional product can be used in ASB activities. PVC is a wonderful material that has many uses, is easily reusable and is fairly inexpensive. It is both sturdy and flexible to use. I am sure after seeing some of the possibilities you will come up with new ways to put PVC to work for you!
